A lovely chalet in a stunning location!! We’ve visited several of the Scottish islands over the past 4 years and Shetland and the chalet both exceed everything so far. This place has provided us with the final thing to tick off on our “wildlife to see in Britain” list….OTTERS. Go to the beach just below the chalet, close to the small waterfall, wait, be patient and be amazed!!”

We had a “fine” time. Met lots of friendly Shetlanders. Shetland was more and more spectacular with every turn we made. We spent much time watching the seals and birds in the bay below. Our time here has been a joy. We will definitely be back!

What a view to wake up to and only a stones throw from great days out….I even managed to catch a trout in the Fladdabister loch.”

We love Shetland! You just can’t beat the view from the lounge window – we have seen all sorts of “wild” goings on - starlings defending territory, newborn lambs at play, seals basking, rabbits, swallows, and lots of other birds. And best of all – otters in the bay!”

The Shetlands are magical…keep a sharp eye out for porpoises & killer whales….the seabird colonies are brilliant and the number of birds are hard to take in. Beaches are excellent and just a few miles south is the lovely beaches of Levenwick & St Ninians Isle, keep an eye open for curious seals.”

We searched for a quiet holiday with lots of nature, no rushing & no stress. We found it here in Shetland.”

We all enjoyed different aspects of Shetland….I was lucky enough to see 3 killer whales at Cunningsburgh with mum. Dad missed them..”

We have fallen in love with Shetland and look forward to returning when the birds return to nest. Up Helly Aa was a spectacle not to be missed. Watching the seals & walking the cliffs has been a delight. The really nice thing is that having spent the day outdoors braving whatever weather Shetland could throw at us, we could come back to a warm & comfortable “home from home” to relax in.”

Wonderful place. Wonderful chalet. Walking & cycling to Sumburgh Head, Jarlshof, St Ninians Isle, & the local shore. Seals, fulmars, puffins, orcas, great skuas, early purple & common spotted orchids.”

This was the fifth of a series of holidays during which we plan to visit all of the accessible Scottish islands…..to date we give Shetland top spot. We covered at least 95% of the (excellent) roads and were rewarded by the most magnificent and beautiful landscapes & seascapes it is possible to imagine (and we are world travellers).”

I first came to Shetland when I was a boy in 1955…the call of the islands never left me & we returned 10 years ago & have been back frequently since. This chalet is by far the best self-catering we have enjoyed anywhere. Everything has been carefully thought our and the result is an exceptionally happy holiday.”
