The Property

Papa is a beautiful Scandinavian style holiday lodge built and furnished to the highest standards. Spacious, bright and tastefully decorated, this 4 Star luxury lodge is the ultimate in self-catering accommodation and can comfortably sleep up to 3 people.

This quality holiday home is one of 2 luxury holiday lodges located in the beautifully unspoilt area of Fladdabister & Ocraquoy on the South Mainland of Shetland and has exceptional seaviews over the Bay of Ocraquoy below and out towards the islands of Bressay & Noss. Indeed there would be few lodges in the world that offers the discerning guests such unique surroundings – Papa really does capture the essence of Shetland’s natural beauty.

From the large front windows you can see a variety boats & ships entering Lerwick harbour or marvel at the seabirds such as the magnificent gannets diving into the sea below. Alternatively stroll down to the bay below and get up close to this amazing wildlife!

This beautiful lodge has been carefully designed & furnished to the highest standards for the discerning visitor who recognises the importance of comfort, cleanliness, privacy & quality. Great care has been taken throughout to provide an environment of not only great natural beauty, but also one which will remain timeless for years to come.

We have made optimum use of space by designing an open-plan living/dining room & kitchen area and the large front windows ensure that whether you’re in the kitchen, living room or dining room you can be assured of wonderful sea-views!

The lodge is extremely well equipped with LED Smart TV and Freeview channels, DVD player and Hifi system, Wifi broadband internet connection and a selection of games, DVDs, books & maps. The rooms are heated with a combination of storage & panel heaters plus an electric fire in the centre of the living room.

The fully-equipped kitchen is modern and spacious and comes with a fitted double oven, fitted dishwasher & fridge, washing machine, microwave, kettle, toaster & cafetiere. All crockery, cutlery, kitchen towels and cleaning utensils are provided.

There are two bedrooms – one with kingsize bed and LED TV and the other bedroom with twin beds – both of which are tastefully decorated and furnished in quality pine. All bed-linen supplied.

The luxury fully-tiled bathroom comes complete with modern fitted units, bath with power shower and heated towel rail. Bathroom towels, iron and ironing board are supplied.

Outdoors there is a spacious garden area with rotary dryer as well as table and chairs on the balcony. There is ample parking and turning space.

What’s nearby

This property has the most perfect location for exploring the whole of Shetland.

On the doorstep you have all the gems of the South including the “Mousa Broch” in Sandwick; the beautiful sandy beaches of Levenwick & St Ninians Isle in Bigton, and further South can be found the Sumburgh Head Nature Reserve, the ancient settlement of “Jarlshof” and the excavations at Scatness to name but a few!

A short walk away is McKenzies Farm Shop and The Kitchen Table cafe, as well as an electric vehicle charging point.

Lerwick is an easy 10 minute drive North with all the activities and amenities you would expect from such a vibrant Capital.

And remember, it’s less than an hour’s drive from here to the most northerly tip of Shetland and from where small inter-island ferries can take you to the North Isles of Yell, Unst, Fetlar and Skerries for the day!

Directions

By Ferry

From Lerwick head for the main A970 south towards Sumburgh. Stay on the A970 passing the turnings to Gulberwick, Quarff & Fladdabister. After the Fladdabister junction, take the next left turning to Aithsetter/Fladdabister then turn immediately left towards Ocraquoy/ Fladdabister. Follow the lane until you come to "Glover Lodges" and the first large wooden house on your right ("Blaisdon") which has a double garage, red roof and is surrounded by a dry-stone wall and brown fencing.

By Air

From Sumburgh Airport follow the main A970 north towards Lerwick. When you pass turnings on your right to Levenwick and to Sandwick the next village is Cunningsburgh. Upon exiting Cunningsburgh you will pass the Cunningsburgh Hall on your left – take the next right turning to Aithsetter/Fladdabister and turn immediately left to Ocraquoy/Fladdabister. Follow the lane until you come to "Glover Lodges" and the first large wooden house ("Blaisdon") with double garage, red roof and dry-stone wall and brown fencing around it.

• Check-out time: 10am.
• Changeover day: Saturday (during peak months).

 

Terms & Conditions of Hire

Stays in Papa must be for a minimum of 4 nights during the low season (November to March) and a minimum of 7 nights during the high season (April to October) with changeover day every Saturday.

The property sleeps up to 3 people.

Sorry but no pets are allowed and no smoking on the premises.

A 25% non-refundable deposit will be payable immediately upon booking with the remaining balance due 8-12 weeks prior to arrival. We strongly recommend that you take out holiday/travel insurance to cover any unexpected late cancellation.
